During our recent #UnseenUttarakhand road trip, we had the privilege of having some hands-on experience with the Panasonic Lumix G85 camera. The road trip was designed to explore the lesser known and unexplored reaches of the Rudraprayag district in the state of Uttarakhand. We set out from Delhi on our Bullets and were headed to the first destination on the list, Chopta. The base of the trek to the Chandrashila peak, via Tungnath.

Upon reaching, we could not resist photographing the serene landscapes on the mirrorless G85. The camera is compact and it is ideal for travelling especially on a bike. We used the camera to take some breathtaking shots of the Himalayan landscape. G85 is a mirror-less camera and that makes it stand out from the rest of the mid-range mirrored cameras like the Canon 80D which I was using earlier. Its size makes it an ideal option for bikers, trekkers, and travellers.

We were not lucky enough and the trip was marred by bad weather conditions and heavy cloud cover. This is where the G85’s Intelligent Auto Mode came in handy. The continually changing conditions made it difficult for us to adjust the setting manually and we had to rely on the Intelligent Auto Mode. The mode works surprisingly very well and produces stunning results.

With the camera, you can take some very beautiful high-resolution timelapses. To shoot a timelapse you can adjust the settings and manually set the number of shots over time. The video also gets compiled in the camera itself and you don’t need any external software to carry out the same.

The G85’s image resolution is very sharp and extremely clear when you shoot landscapes in natural light, and with it, you can also shoot amazing 4K videos. The Weather Sealing ensures the camera’s optimum performance in all kinds of weather. We can vouch for the camera during the monsoons as we had no issue at all.

The Panasonic Image App connects the camera to your smartphone and lets you transfer your photos and videos over WiFi. Another cool feature of this camera is the touchscreen control panel. It also has its own battery grip accessory — the first non-GH-series Lumix camera to sport a battery grip. Matching the rugged durability of the G85’s construction, the accessory grip is also fully weather sealed.

One thing that you must remember when you travel with a camera capable of shooting 4K videos – carry a large memory card. You will be needing a lot of space for the 4K videos, and also because you will be clicking literally everything you see with the awesome Lumix G85.

Biking is not just a passion, it is a way of life. For us bikers, our motorcycles aren’t just a mode of transport but an integral part of our lives, almost like our families. We talk to the wind and listen to the road when we ride. No other pleasure in the world can compare to the joy of hitting the long winding highways on our bikes. Such joy can’t be put in words, but we’ve tried to capture its essence in these biking quotes. Yes, for all you fellow biking enthusiasts, here are 12 of the most relatable quotes that will tug at your heartstrings and get your heart racing in no time.

There can never be an issue that a ride on your bike can’t resolve.

And a wheelie drives onlookers insane.

Sometimes a bike is all the company we need.

“Riders on the storm.  Into this house, we are born. Into this world, we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone. An actor out on loan. Riders on the storm” – The Doors

The only routine we need.

Life is incomplete without our dearest companions – our bikes.

Ride like a boss, all day, every day.

Age is just a number!

Life is too short to be afraid!

We don’t live to ride. We ride to live.

Helmets are the only filter we need.

Once a biker, always a biker.

Hope these quotes inspire you to live your days riding with pride and joy, whether there is sunshine or rain.

Known for its magical medicinal benefits, Yarsagumba, (Ophiocoedyceps Sinesis) is a type of fungus endemic to the Himalayan region. It is also called Yart Swa Gun Bu, which in Tibetan means ‘herb in the summer and insect in the winter’. In Nepali, it is referred to by the colloquial term Yachagumbu or Yaxagumbu while the Chinese call it Dong Cong Xia Cao. But this rare fungus is sadly on the verge of extinction due to the alarming increase in smuggling and over grazing of cattle and yaks. This, in turn, has led to the price of this scarce fungus to skyrocket, fetching up to Rs. 50 lakh per kg! Read on to find out more about this pricey fungus.

Is it an insect? Is it grass? Oh! Look its Yarsagumba!
Four hundred species of fungus, all rolled into oneIt’s life cycle is rather complicated
Pretty rare to find
The penicillin of Tibetan and Chinese medicine
Facing extinction, it is illegal to harvest
The wonder bug with a mythological connect
Known by many names, found in relative abundance in the Devbhoomi
Sold for Rs 50-freaking-lakh per kilogram!
It is one of the biggest natural mysteries of the Great Himalayas

Just like everything that’s in high demand, this wondrous plant-slash-bug will soon go extinct and little is being done to prevent it. Nepal has long been fighting the ill-effects of over harvest. This is a medicinal wonder and a biological marvel, and therefore, needs to be preserved.
