Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy is a celebration of the underdogs who have made it big in the Indian rap scene. It is the story of an aspiring street rapper – Murad Ahmed who braves all odds to become one of the most popular Indian rappers. Gully Boy won a total of record 13 Filmfares including Best Film, Best Director (Zoya Akhtar), Best Actor (Ranveer Singh), Best Actress (Alia Bhatt), Best Male Debut (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Best Dialogue (Vijay Maurya). Gully broke the record of Black at the Filmfares which had won 11 awards in 2006. It was also India’s official entry to 92nd Academy Awards for the Best International feature film.
