2020 was especially unkind to the entertainment industry. With theatres closed and a prohibition on shooting, one of the highest-earning industries in India was brought to its knees. Of course, a lot of producers decided to go the OTT route and release their movies online, but most big releases planned for the year were delayed until 2021. Since the Indian music industry is more or less a sub-industry functioning under the larger film industry, we missed out on many songs that would have blessed our years had it not been for the on-going pandemic. However, despite the lack of Bollywood releases, 2020 saw many songs that turned into giant hits. Thanks to TikTok (RIP) and now Instagram Reels, a lot of these songs went instantly viral. With that, we bring you this list of 20 Hindi songs from 2020 that we just couldn’t get out of our heads – and sometimes we really did not enjoy that.
