Did you know that the character of Anand in this movie was inspired by the legendary Raj Kapoor? Kishore Kumar and Mehmood were the original choices for the lead actors. Following a ‘fall out’ with Kishore Kumar, Hrishikesh Mukherjee offered the roles to Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. However, the final actors chosen for this legendary movie were Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. The movie also played a huge role in giving public recognition to Amitabh Bachchan who then went on to become the biggest star of Indian Cinema.
