Hotstar has a terrific collection of mainstream movies. Really. Visit their website, you’ll see what I mean. They have all the Hollywood blockbusters alongside smaller independent short/feature-length films. One of the primary reasons you should be having a subscription is because they have all the Marvel films. Just kidding, Marvel Films are not the only films out there. Here is a list of the 20 best Hindi dubbed Hollywood movies on Hotstar (Including some marvel flicks).

1. Jojo Rabbit
Jojo Rabbit is a must-watch. Taika Waititi the writer-director of this film won an Oscar for best-adapted screenplay. The story takes place during the crumbling Third Reich of Nazi Germany as we see a young boy conditioned by propaganda discovering a Jewish girl hiding in their home.
2. Queen of Katwe
I have been an admirer of Mira Nair’s works since I saw Monsoon Wedding. Queen of Katwe is a sports drama that is based on a true incident. The movie tells the story of Phiona, who comes from an extremely poor background and gets an opportunity to escape from a life of poverty by playing Chess.
3. Black Panther
The first Marvel film on the list. I think I understand Martin Scorsese’s point of view on Marvel films not being cinema. He belongs to a time when Cinema was about contributing something to society apart from the economy. Contributing to individual lives, forcing them to introspect. I hope it still is. Marvel films don’t do that. That’s not the point of these films. We need to distinguish between the two. Both kinds of films can co-exist if only we are aware of what we are watching.
4. Insidious
James Wan changed the horror scenario with his film The Conjuring. Which is one of my favourite horror films of all time. This film was made three years before that. Though it falters in its last act, the rest of the movie especially the ending is really good.
5. Night at the Museum
I saw it when I was a child. So this movie is a trip down memory lane for me. The night guard at the Museum of Natural History gets help from the exhibits who come alive to foil a robbery attempt.
6. Black Water
It is an Australian horror film written and directed by Andrew Traucki and David Nerlich. It follows a family trip to the swamps. When their tour guide is killed by a crocodile, they are left to survive in the wilderness alone.
7. National Treasure
It stars Nicolas Cage and Diane Kruger. Nicolas Cage steals the Declaration of Independence to search for a treasure of National importance.
8. A Hidden Life
Directed by Terrence Mallik, it is one of the best Hindi dubbed Hollywood movies on Hotstar. It follows the life of an Austrian farmer who faces the threat of execution after refusing to fight for the Nazis in World War II.
9. Avengers: Endgame
I don’t think this film needs any formal introduction. I had a great time at the theatre as the third phase was coming to an end in front of my eyes.
10. The Lion King
Not the original animated version of 1994, but the remake of the classic. Though the 1994 version has a special place in my heart. I think this one can co-exist.
11. Thor: Ragnarok
I would have included Doctor Strange, as it was my favourite Marvel film before Thor: Ragnarok was released. This instantly rose to the top of the list of my favourite Marvel films. Taika Waititi manages to retain a distinct flair to the Marvel film, which is very much his own.
12. The Jungle Book
Again, not the animated version, but the live-action remake. I liked it, I won’t lie. I didn’t love it, but I did have a good time in the theatre.
13. Coco
It is a heartwarming tale about a family. It takes us on an inter-dimensional journey to the land of the dead, living, and explores a bond between father and son.
14. Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
Again, an integral part of my childhood memory. One of my uncles gifted me the DVD of Narnia. And I was enchanted by the magical world of Narnia that I saw this movie every single day for 1 whole month.
15. Avatar
I am not a very big fan of James Cameron. Unpopular opinion, but I did not like Titanic. In the case of Avatar, it had a metaphorical story in a mainstream film which I admire.
16. Pirates of the Caribbean (Entire series)
I regret not watching a single Pirates of the Caribbean movie at the theatre. I always watched it on the television set. I think, television is one of the worst ways to watch a movie, as it is constantly interrupted by advertisements.
17. Finding Nemo
I was never a big fan of animated films as a kid. Thankfully, that changed later on. This film was one of the reasons that my viewpoint on animated films changed.
18. Glass
This is the third film in M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable trilogy. The unbreakable trilogy is one of my favourite superhero trilogies of all time. Unbreakable was a masterpiece. So was Split. Glass wasn’t the best in the trilogy, I agree, but it is certainly a sufficient ending to the series.
19. The Finest Hours
The movie follows four coast guards as they get trapped in a sea storm and try to rescue the survivors of an oil tanker that is split in half.
20. Encanto
This year’s Best Animated Feature winner at the Oscars. It follows the life of The Madrigals as they live hidden in the mountains of Columbia in a place called Encanto.
