14 Outrageous Things Musicians & Artists Did On Stage

Nobody beats rock stars when it comes to living a lavish, shocking, and eccentric lifestyle. Nothing seems to be able to top musicians from our favorite genre, whether it’s a sexually deviant act or a serious crime. What’s more interesting (or perhaps awesome by someone’s standards) is that this also reflects their live shows. So if you go to see your favorite band perform live, there’s a good chance you’ll see them do something unusual or even extreme. Here is a list of 14 outrageous things musicians and artists did on stage.

1. Madonna exposing a 17-year-old female fan on stage:

Madonna exposed an underage fan’s breast onstage during a recent Australian concert, inciting outrage from fans, in a moment that may be all the proof we need that she is in the midst of a very public meltdown. The musician, who is no stranger to wild concert antics, invited 17-year-old Josephine Georgiou onstage while performing in Brisbane on Thursday. Madonna then proceeded to yank down her top, exposing her breast to the audience. Georgiou has no plans to sue Madonna for “the best moment” of her life, as she put it.

2. Lady Gaga gets completely naked on stage:

Next on our list of dramatic performances musicians executed is Lady Gaga. Gaga wore an oversized smock dress and ethereal-looking white makeup to her performance, but halfway through the song, she stripped down to her underwear and stripped naked, leaving her smock in a heap on the stage. The Poker Face singer had no regrets about her show’s shocking conclusion, as she tweeted shortly after her performance, “I had an amazing night tonight at G-A-Y in London, and you continue to inspire me after all these years. I’m looking forward to X-Factor tomorrow night.”

3. Lady Gaga’s dancer intentionally throwing up on her:

Gaga invited ‘vomit painter’ Millie Brown on stage during her performance of ‘Swine.’ Brown drank a bottle of green liquid before pushing her fingers down her throat and puking the substance onto the singer while playing drums. Gaga kicked off the show by roasting herself on a spit while her backup dancers stroked her with barbecue brushes. Following Lady Gaga’s on-stage vomiting stunt at SXSW, Demi Lovato slammed her and accused her of glamorizing eating disorders.

4. Miley Cyrus has crotch stroked by wild fans:

Miley Cyrus is one of the many musicians who never fail to surprise the crowd with their controversial nature. The Wrecking Ball singer thrusts her hips forward into the crowd in the middle of a song in 2014, allowing the audience to touch her in the nether regions. Miley, who was dressed in a silver leotard, appeared relaxed as hands swarmed her and one daring fan stroked her over the top of her genital area, while others touched her breasts. Miley appeared unfazed by the situation, continuing to sing and dance throughout and even seeming to enjoy the attention.

5. Miley Cyrus’ attitude onstage at the VMAs:

Miley Cyrus used the VMAs in 2015 to promote her new album, “Miley Cyrus And Her Dead Petz,” which was released for free online right after the show ended. On the album art, Cyrus’ face is depicted with her mouth open, smearing what appear to be dirty sprinkles onto her cheek—a video version of which was shown on screens during her performance. Her attitude onstage, however, was one of stunting rather than vision: “Look what I can do and still make money,” she joked as she ate pot brownies made by her “mammy” during the seemingly endless three-hour live broadcast.

6. Rocker Sophia Urista peeing on a fan’s face during a performance:

Next on our list of the outrageous things musicians did on stage is the rockstar Sophia Urista. In a live concert, Sophia Urista, lead singer of the rock band ‘Brass Against,’ peed on a fan’s face. The rocker has finally expressed regret for his erratic behavior. Sophia Urista stated on her social media account that she is “not a shock artist” in a post. The band has been chastised for Sophia Urista’s actions since the incident. In its defence, the band claims that nothing like this will ever happen at one of their shows.

7. Ozzy Osbourne biting off a bat’s head:

Ozzy Osbourne was in typically audacious form when he arrived in Des Moines as part of his solo tour in 1982, and he was ready to give the audience a show they would never forget. While Osbourne was more than capable of accomplishing this feat without theatrics, he decided to go all out on this occasion. When he clamped the mammal’s head between his teeth and chomped down, the singer was at the height of his fame. “Somebody threw a bat, I just thought it was a rubber bat,” Ozzy explained. “Oh, no, it’s real!” he exclaimed as he realized it was alive. It has since become one of Osbourne’s most iconic moments in his long career.

8. The Red Hot Chili Peppers performing naked:

The Chili’s first performed with just socks to cover up their manhoods only a few months after forming in 1983 at Kit Kat Club in Hollywood, California, and it quickly became a trademark part of their on-stage persona.

9. GG Allin shat himself on stage and smeared it on his face:

Even though he died nearly twenty-five years ago, he remains one of the most reviled and reviled “punk stars” of all time, making Marilyn Manson and Ozzie Osborne look like choir boys. In comparison to this man, Sid Vicious is a sweetheart. During his shows, he would drink laxatives, strip naked, excrete on stage, throw his poo at audience members, and then beat them up.

10. Jim Morrison exposes himself on stage:

Jim Morrison, the late Doors frontman, was accused of exposing himself in front of a stunned audience in Florida on March 1, 1969, though he vehemently denied the charge. Robby Krieger, a bandmate, maintains that no photographic evidence exists to prove it. Morrison was arrested in connection with the incident in Coconut Grove on Sept. 20, 1970, and charged with dropping his pants in front of 12,000 fans at a Doors concert. Morrison turned down a plea deal and was eventually sentenced to prison and a fine after being convicted of indecent exposure and open profanity.

11. Donita Sparks throwing a tampon at the audience:

Sparks smeared red warpaint across her eyes, dumped a large clump of mud on her head, screamed maniacally “hahahaha,” and then conferred with the other members about what to do. A few moments later, the offending missile was launched. “Eat my tampon, fuckers!” yelled Sparks as she swung it between her fingers and flung it into the crowd, screaming, “Beware of tuberculosis!” They began singing Fast and Frightening, a song about a heroine who “doesn’t need no balls” because she “has so much clit.”

12. The infamous Alice Cooper chicken incident:

We’re pretty sure you haven’t heard about a group of musicians like the next one. In almost every interview he’s given in the last 40 years, Alice has retold his version of the infamous “chicken” incident at the Toronto Rock’n’Roll festival in 1969. Someone in the audience threw a chicken onstage, and Alice threw it back over the audience, expecting it to fly away. Instead, it “plummeted” into the crowd, where it was torn apart by the audience. “Alice bites the chicken head off and drinks blood,” read the headlines the next day. Frank Zappa advised Alice not to deny the story, claiming that such publicity could not be bought!

13. The time Keith Moon almost killed THE WHO on stage:

THE WHO had just made it big in America and were about to make their first appearance on “The Smothers Brothers,” which was the big show at the time. It was an anti-establishment show, so it seemed like a natural fit for the group. THE WHO, on the other hand, wanted to make a big impression, which they did. At this point in the band’s career, drummer Keith Moon had a habit of detonating explosives in his bass drum after each performance by THE WHO. They wanted to up the ante with more explosives this time, and the results were terrifying.

14. Pussy Riot’s historic “A Punk Prayer” performance on its 2-year anniversary:

Last but not least on our list of dramatic musicians, is the iconic Pussy Riot. Pussy Riot performed “A Punk Prayer” at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a protest event that would not only affect members of the feminist punk collective for the rest of their lives but would also bring Russian human rights violations to the forefront of the world’s attention. The incident was caught on film and eventually turned into the official music video for “A Punk Prayer,” despite the fact that it was cut short by security officials. On charges of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred or hostility,” the collective was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison.
