Bollywood might be the most popular film industry in our country, but if you’re not checking out regional cinema, you’re seriously missing out. One of the regions of our country making films actively is the South Indian, that is the Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries. These industries have given us a number of gems that have often also been remade in Bollywood, like Manichitrathazhu, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, HIT – The First Case, and so on. So, to give this region the credit it deserves, check out some of the best upcoming South Indian movies in July 2022.

1. D Block
A Tamil action drama, D Block is the debut film of director Vijay Kumar Rajendran. It stars Avantika Mishra, Arulnithi and Eruma Saani among others. The expected release date is July 1.
2. Rocketry – The Nambi Effect
This film by R Madhavan was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival this year as part of the market section. It will be released in both Tamil and Hindi, on July 1. The story is about an ISRO scientist named Nambi Narayanan, who is falsely accused of espionage.
3. Kadhal 2 Kalyanam
First expected to release in 2013, Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is a Tamil romantic comedy directed by Milind Rau. It stars Sathya and Ramya, and will release on July 13.
4. Thiruchitrambalam
Starring Dhanush and Rashi Khanna, Thiruchitrambalam is a Tamil drama directed by Mithran R Jawahar. It is expected to be screened in theatres from July 1.
5. Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga
A Telugu romantic movie directed by Gireesaaya, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga stars Tej and Ketika Sharma. It is set to be released on July 1.
6. The Warrior
This film by N Lingusamy was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu, and stars Ram Pothineni, Aadhi Pinisetty, Krithi Shetty, Akshara Gowda and Nadhiya. It will be released on July 14.
7. Karthikeya 2
A sequel to the 2014 Telugu film Karthikeya, this is a supernatural thriller that revolves around the central titular character and his trials on the way to the pursuit of truth. The film releases on 22 July.
8. HIT – The Second Case
Written and directed by S Kolanu, this is a Telugu action thriller, and a sequel to the film HIT. It will be released on 29 July.
9. Thankam
With the amazing Fahaadh Faasil, Joju George and Dileesh Pothan, Thankam is the debut film of director Saheed Arafath. It is a Malayalam crime drama set to release on July 6.
10. Aanaparambile Worldcup
Essentially a sports drama, this film is directed by Nikhil Premraj and stars Anthony Varghese, Saiju Kurup, and Balu Varghese among others. The film is expected to be released on July 7.
