In Sweet Magnolias, three South Carolina women who have been closest friends since childhood guide one another through the challenges of love, work, and family. Dana Sue Sullivan and Helen Decatur, two of Maddie’s closest friends, decide that the three of them will start a business together, opening a new spa in a cherished old house, with Maddie serving as the manager.

The show follows three children, two parents, and their families over a number of different historical periods. The majority of the play takes place in the present, with flashbacks showing other significant events in the family’s past. In 1980, three months ahead of schedule, triplets were born on Jack’s 36th birthday. The only two are Kevin and Kate. Since Jack and Rebecca believe they were meant to have three children, they decide to adopt Randall. When Jack’s children reach the age of 17, he dies. Later, Miguel, a close friend of Jack’s, marries Rebecca.

Based on the ongoing Diana Gabaldon novel series of the same name, Outlander is a historical drama television series. A former military nurse from Scotland who served in the Second World War finds herself thrust into the year 1743 in 1945. There she meets Jamie Fraser, a gorgeous Highland warrior from Gabaldon’s fictionalized Clan Fraser of Lovat, who falls in love with him, and they are married. As a result, she gets involved in the Jacobite uprising.
