15 Best Hindi Dubbed Crime Thriller Movies That You Should Not Miss

What wouldn’t I give to watch a good crime thriller? I love everything about it. The cat and mouse chase, the action, the edge-of-the-seat suspense, the adrenaline rush. But the majority of the population in this country is deprived of the knowledge of any other languages, other than the one spoken in their locality. They are missing out on some of the best crime thrillers out there. Distributors found a way to overcome this challenge. However, sloppy it might sound to some of us, we can’t deny the contribution of dubbing to film distribution. This is a list of the 15 best Hindi dubbed crime thriller movies.

1. Drishyam (2013)

Not the Ajay Devgan, Tabu starrer Drishyam which came out in 2015. This is the original Malayalam movie directed by Jeethu Joseph. I wish I could watch Drishyam for the first time. I can’t give out much of the story, but roughly, it follows George as his happy life becomes disrupted due to an incident.

2. Visaranai (2015)

Four labourers are tortured by the police to confess to a crime they did not commit. It is a gritty thriller that is not easy to watch.

3. Anjaam Pathiraa (2020)

There was a Bengali adaptation called Mukhosh (2020), which I won’t recommend you to watch. This is the original film directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. It is an extremely thrilling watch with a plot that surprises the viewers at every point.

4. Aaranya Kaandam (2010)

The debut film of Thiagarajan Kumararaja, who came out with the brilliant Super Deluxe in 2019. If you have seen Super Deluxe, you know what he is capable of. That film alone should be the reason for you to watch this film.

5. Raatchasan (2018)

The film follows Arun as he tries to track down a killer who targets school girls. Don’t get fooled by the premise. It might seem simple. But that’s the sign of a good film. If someone can make something extraordinary from something simple, I am watching whatever they have done so far.

6. Shutter Island (2010)

You have probably heard about Martin Scorsese by now. He is GOAT. Hands down. This is probably one of the most interesting films he directed. It follows two US Marshals, as they go to an asylum on a remote island to investigate the disappearance of a patient. This is one of the best Hindi dubbed crime thriller movies you can find on the internet.

7. The Guilty (2021)

Ever heard of chamber movies? The kind of films which are shot in the same location. Roman Polanski’s Carnage and Sydney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men are some examples of Chamber dramas. The Guilty is the latest addition. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a cop who is demoted to the 911 service. One day, he gets a call from a woman, he suspects has been kidnapped by her husband.

8. Knives Out (2019)

Knives Out was a big deal when it came out. It is an amazing watch. An interesting spin on the classic whodunit. The movie feels like an Agatha Christie novel.

9. The Woman in the Window (2021)

Directed by Joe Wright, you won’t need a dedicated cinephile to tell you that this was his homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954). The first thing that viewers will notice, is the grandeur. The sets, the production design, the props, and the costumes everything is larger than life. Not necessarily a bad thing though. It is a good watch.

10. Vikram Vedha (2017)

Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi are two of my favourite actors. In this film, they are together. Vikram is a cop hunting for Vedha, who voluntarily surrenders and tells Vikram a story that turns his life upside down.

11. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Steven Spielberg can pull off anything. This movie is a comedy, drama, thriller and crime all at the same time. All of the elements are extremely balanced. It follows the story of Frank Abagnale who is a master of deception and has duped people worth millions of dollars.

12. No Country For Old Men (2005)

Roger Ebert tells No Country For Old Men is a “perfect” film. You have to watch, it to know how terrific the film is. On the surface, it is a western. But it is more Coen brothers used the premise of a western film to deal with more complex philosophical topics.

13. Malignant (2021)

People who have seen the trailer are probably confused. It is projected by the studio as a horror film. Which it is. But it is also a crime thriller. Why? Watch it, you’ll know. Certainly not the best from James Wan (Conjuring, Saw), but a good watch.

14. Skyfall (2011)

I think Daniel Craig got the best Bond movies to date. My favourite Bond remains Pierce Brosnan, but unfortunately, he got all the bad films. Skyfall is widely accepted to be the best Bond film. So much was its popularity that the studio contracted Sam Mendes, the director, for the next film, Spectre (Which wasn’t that good).

15. The Girl With A Bracelet (2020)

The Girl With A Bracelet follows the story of a girl who stands trial for murdering her best friend.
