One of the most popular series on Netflix starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an adaptation of Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name. This 2-seasons and 16 episodes long series promises a gripping and entertaining plot that will keep you hooked to your screen. This crime thriller is one of the best Indian web series on Netflix.

3. Delhi Crime

Undoubtedly the best show available on Netflix, Delhi Crime is a powerful adaptation of a real-life crime that shook the nation to its very core in 2012. Based on the Nirbhaya case, this web series follows the aftermath of the horrifying gang rape as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi goes forward to find and punish the culprits. A female constable from Mumbai goes undercover on a case and realizes that she is a badass. Written by Imtiaz Ali and Divya Johri, this crime drama is one of the best things on Netflix. Aditi Pohankar gives a stunning and realistic performance as the lead in this series.

An Indianised version of Margaret Atwood’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, this show has more in common with the novel (and the Hulu Original) than we can imagine. But interestingly, this shows adds more to it and makes it an engaging watch. Huma Qureshi shines in this 6 episode-long dystopian mini-series.

7. Ghoul

One of the first Netflix India Originals, Ghoul is a show that is just 3 episodes long. A new prisoner in a military detention center unravels several dark secrets of his interrogators, having been possessed by a Ghoul. The performances out-do the script which is slightly loose in certain areas.

8. Stories by Rabindranath Tagore

Kudos to Anurag Basu for creating this masterpiece. Of course, more than half of the credit goes to Rabindranath Tagore himself for writing such wonderful and progressive stories for generations to read. There have been multiple adaptations of Tagore’s works, but Basu’s vision and direction give a new life to these stories. From Chokher Bali to Kabuliwala, these stories will leave you mesmerized.  And the acting is so on point! Do have a keen ear to notice the background music and a few songs written by Rabindranath Tagore that have been reprised in this series. This show is an experience of a lifetime.

Released in the year 2020, this show has gained steady popularity. A few young men decide to run a phishing racket in a small town in Jharkhand. Their plans are constricted by a politician who wants to grab a share of his own. This show is underrated and binge-worthy. Why not try it out this weekend?

An able adaptation of Vikram Seth‘s famous novel ‘A Suitable Boy’, this show is one of the best Indian web series on Netflix. Set in post-Independence India, the story of Lata whose mother wants her to get married to a ‘suitable’ boy. The story is much more than just a matrimonial quest. It is a dive into history, an interesting take on love, an appreciation of art and skill, and overall a celebration of individuality.

Running into 2 seasons and possibly anticipating the third season, this series has gained popularity for holding up a mirror to society, and especially to the youth of the country who are stuck in a rat race.
