Best South Indian Movies of 2022 So Far

South Indian movies have been really making the headlines for the past few years. Though the South Indian industry in the last year and the year before that went through troubled times due to the COVID pandemic, as did the rest of the world. Things are beginning to get better. I think it is making one of the best movies in the country with the perfect balance of thought-provoking plot and the mainstream elements. After going through a disaster year that was 2021, the industry, with some blockbusters already under their belts, is slowly finding its ground. Here are the best South Indian movies of 2022 so far.

1. RRR

S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali has been the highest grosses in its respective years of release. Now he comes with RRR. And it’s already a hit. It is set during the British rule during the 1920s and depicts the tale of two revolutionaries.

2. K. G. F Chapter 2

K. G. F. Chapter 1 was the highest-grossing film of 2018. K. G. F. Chapter 2 continues the story of Kolar Gold Fields (K. G. F.) and its new overlord Rocky.

3. Bheeshma Parvam

A former gangster turned marine exporter is forced to revisit his past as he endures unfortunate events and death threats to his family.

4. Hridayam

Hridayam is a romantic drama depicting Arun as he reminisces his misspent youth and the troubled road that brought him to adulthood.

5. Pada

Pada is a brilliant thriller starring Dileesh Pothan (director of Joji), Vinayakan, Kunchacko Boban, and Arjun Radhakrishnan as the members of Ayyankali Pada, who hold the Palakkad collector hostage for 9 hours in 1996 to draw attention to tribal land rights in India.

6. Meppadiyam

Jayakrishnan’s simple life is tangled in the intricate network of wealthy men and greedy politicians when a real estate deal renders him penniless.

7. Bhootkaalam

SonyLiv has been producing some of the best content in OTT with little to no promotion compared to other OTT giants. Bhootkaalam is a terrific supernatural thriller starring Shane Nigam and Revathy as a son and mother who experience strange occurrences in their home after the death of a family member.

8. James

Starring Puneeth Rajkumar in his posthumous appearance as the manager of WINGS, a security agency. He suddenly gets mixed with the underworld crime syndicate.
