The year 2023 has only just begun and Hollywood has already had an interesting line-up of releases. Many surprises have sprung up on viewers along the way. Some of these include Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania facing poor reviews and a massive box office dip, while another was the anticipation of a gory version of the beloved children’s comic Winnie-the-Pooh which has seen considerable viewership despite the negative response from initial viewers. The month of March may also be a bag of surprises, looking at the list of Hollywood movies releasing in March 2023.
1. Creed III
Release Date: 3 March
The third in the Creed series and the ninth installment in the Rocky franchise, the sports/drama film will see Michael B. Jordan back in the director’s and actor’s role. He reprises his role as Adonis Creed, who must meet an old friend who is back from the past. This leads to a confrontation that is much deeper than just the ring.
2. Children of The Corn
Release Date: 3 March
The movie is an adaptation of a short story by Stephen King of the same name. The main premise of this horror story is about a group of children who belong to a murderous cult, believing in a deity known as He Who Walks Behind The Rows. Each adaptation adds its own twist to the story and we cannot wait to see the way this film differs from the others.
3. Unseen
Release Date: 7 March
This horror comedy film follows the story of Sam and Emily, who happen to become entwined in each other’s lives for a day after a misdial. Emily’s fate depends on Sam as she must guide her through a video call through a forest, away from her ex who is looking to murder her.
4. Scream VI
Release Date: 10 March
Another installment to the Scream film franchise, the cast of the movie include both actors reprising their roles like Courteney Cox, Jenna Ortega, etc., alongside new actors like Jack Champion. The film’s plot deals with the survivors of the previous slew of killings moving to New York to begin afresh. However, they are followed by tragedy as they find themselves under the attack of a new killer.
5. The Ritual Killer
Release Date: 10 March
The film stars Cole Hauser and Morgan Freeman in lead roles. Detective Boyd, played by Hauser teams up with Professor Mackles (Freeman) to hunt down a killer conducting ritualistic murders. This action thriller film is one of the most highly anticipated Hollywood movies releasing in the month of March 2023.
6. 65
Release Date: 10 March
Pilot Mills, portrayed by Adam Driver, crash lands on an unknown planet and finds himself stranded and deserted. Soon, he finds another survivor, a girl called Koa and they realise that they are on Earth, only 65 million years ago, along with prehistoric creatures and other unknown dangers lurking in the dark.
7. Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Release Date: 17 March
Reprising his role as superhero Shazam, Zachary Levi is the lead in the film based on DC Comics. Shazam and his foster siblings now face another threat and are thus forced to get back into action in order to save the world.
8. Moving On
Release Date: 17 March
This comedy film stars the brilliant Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in the lead roles. They play the roles of two friends who meet at the wake of a common friend. There, they threaten to murder the widower for a wrong he committed against them decades prior.
9. Boston Strangler
Release Date: 17 March
The movie is based on the real-life reporter and journalist Loretta McLaughlin, who uncovered the mystery of the Boston Strangler. Her character has been portrayed by Keira Knightley, and Jean Cole’s by Carrie Coon and they both depict the struggles faced by the women in their fields back during the time of the case.
10. Inside
Release Date: 17 March
Willem Dafoe takes on the role of an art thief who plans a heist in a New York penthouse. However, the plan goes awry and he finds himself stuck inside the penthouse, with no company or utilities except the art.
11. John Wick: Chapter 4
Release Date: 14 March
Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the legendary, fan-favourite hitman John Wick in the latest installment of the John Wick series. His fight against the High Table goes global and during the journey, he must face many trials and tribulations to succeed.
12. A Good Person – 24 March
Release Date: 24 March
Directed by Zach Braff and with Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman in lead roles, this film is already filled with a star-studded ensemble. It follows the story of Allison, whose life seems to be going very smoothly until a fatal accident in which she was involved turns her life upside down.
13. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Release Date: 30 March
An adventure/fantasy film with a cast full of stars, this movie is anticipated to be a huge hit with audiences around the globe. When a thief and a group of unlikely people band together on a quest to find a relic, trouble finds them as they cross paths with dangerous enemies.
14. Tetris
Release Date: 31 March
The biographical drama film follows the life of Henk Rogers after he discovers Tetris and risks it all to go to the USSR. There he joins Alexey Pajitnov to brainstorm and bring the game to the general public.
15. Murder Mystery 2
Release Date: 31 March
Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler play the roles of the Splitz’s who quit their respective jobs to become full-time private detectives. However, their agency is in a slump until their billionaire friend is kidnapped from his own wedding.
