1. Kamala Harris

One of the most famous and eminent Indian American politicians is the 49th vice president of the United States is an American politician and attorney named Kamala Devi Harris. She is also the first African American and first Asian American vice president, making her the highest-ranking female official in American history.

2. Ami Bera

American politician and physician Amerish Babulal “Ami” Bera has represented California’s 7th congressional district since 2013. His district, which is made up primarily of Sacramento’s eastern and southern suburbs, including Elk Grove, Folsom, and Rancho Cordova, is represented by the Democratic Party.

3. Pramila Jayapal

American politician Pramila Jayapal has been Washington’s 7th congressional district’s representative since 2017. She represents the majority of Seattle and a few King County suburbs as a member of the Democratic Party. From 2015 to 2017, Jayapal served as the senator for the 37th legislative district in Washington. She is the first Indian-American woman to hold a representative position in the US. She is the first female representative for the district and the first Asian American to hold federal office in Washington.

4. Rohit Khanna

American politician, attorney, and professor Rohit Khanna has represented California’s 17th congressional district since 2017. He initially ran for the same position in 2014 and was a member of the Democratic Party. On November 8, 2016, he defeated eight-term Democratic Representative Mike Honda. From August 8, 2009, to August 2011, Khanna worked as the deputy assistant secretary in the US Department of Commerce under President Barack Obama. He is another of the most important Indian American politicians.

5. Subramanian Raja Krishnamoorthi

Since 2017, Subramanian Raja Krishnamoorthi, a politician and businessman of Indian descent, has represented Illinois’ 8th congressional district in the United States. Many of the western and northwestern suburbs of Chicago, including Hoffman Estates, Elgin, Schaumburg, Wood Dale, and Elk Grove Village, are included in this area. Tammy Duckworth, who vacated the position to run for the U.S. Senate, was replaced by him after his election. Krishnamoorthi is a Democrat who sits on both the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Oversight Committee. Additionally, he serves as an assistant whip and as the chair of the oversight committee’s economic and consumer policy subcommittee.

   

6. Raj Shah

From 2017 to 2019, Raj Shah, an American political assistant, held the positions of deputy press secretary and deputy assistant to the president at the White House. Shah oversaw the Republican National Committee’s opposition research prior to entering the Trump Administration. Fox Corporation made the announcement that he has been hired as a senior vice president in July 2019.

7. Uzra Zeya

Since July 2021, Uzra Zeya, an American diplomat, has been the Biden Administration’s Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights. She is another one of Indian American politicians of extreme importance.

8. Mala Adiga

The Fulbright and Gilman Programs, among many other foreign educational initiatives, are managed by Mala Adiga, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs.

9.  Garima Verma

Indian-American Garima Verma has been hired by First Lady Jill Biden to serve as her digital director. Verma, who was born in India, spent part of his childhood in Ohio and the California Central Valley. On the Biden-Harris campaign, she worked as an audience growth and content strategist.

10. Tarun Chhabra

Tarun Chhabra was appointed as the Senior Director for Technology and National Security at National Security Council White House under the Biden Administration.
