11 Brand New Korean Dramas In April 2023 That Cannot Be Missed!

   

In the last few years, Korean dramas have gained the attention that they have always deserved. The craze that Squid Games and the famous Korean movie, Parasite brought in seems to have continued and people all over India and the world are scrambling in search of similar content. Well, worry not because Hallyuwood (the Korean entertainment Industry) has got our backs. April is certainly going to be an eventful month. We have shows with diverse plots in line! Let’s take a look at the latest Korean Dramas in April 2023 to add a little bit of spice to your watchlist!

   

1. Dr. Romantic 3

SBS’s famous medical drama Dr. Romantic is back with its third season. This highly anticipated season will see our favourite doctors played by Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung maintaining the spirit of our beloved Doldam Hospital. The show is a thrilling watch and with two successful seasons, the standards for the third season have been set very high. The first episode of season 3 is scheduled to air on the 28th of April!

 

2. Paper moon 

Paper Moon is a Korean adaptation of a Japanese TV show and novel of the same name. It deals with the story of a housewife who is the subject of her husband’s indifference. Being bored with her life, she decides to start working at a bank where she regains confidence. Does this confidence help her become her best self or does it land her in trouble? 3. Queenmaker 

A political drama starring Kim Hee-ae and Moon So-ri, Queenmaker has an engaging plot with two of the strongest female leads. The drama follows the story of how an advertiser uses her marketing strategies to make a strong civil rights lawyer win the mayoral elections in Seoul. The 12-episode show will be airing on Netflix from 14th April 2023.

4. Dr. Cha 

Another one right from the hospital, this Korean drama in April 2023 is probably the most awaited Korean drama. The show revolves around a medical graduate who leaves medicine to focus on her family but seems to re-enter the field as a resident student after 20 years. Starring Uhm Jung-Hwa as Cha Jung Sook, Kim Byung-chul as Seo In Ho, Myung Se-bin as Choi Seung Hee and Min Woo-hyuk as Roy Kim, the series deals with the trials and tribulations Cha faces as an old student. It will air on the jTBC network from 15th April.

5. Bait Pt 2 / Decoy Pt 2 

After the success of its first season, Bait, also translated as Decoy is back with part two. Season 1 deals with the revival of the cold investigation of the notorious fraudster Noh Sang Chun (played by Heo Sung-tae of Squid Game) who fooled millions of people by investing in a scam. This season, our favourite police officer Goo Do Han is back trying to trace Noh Sang Chun who is also linked to several mysterious deaths. The show is engrossing and will keep you on the edge of your seats! Having been released on April 7, the show has received considerable TRP from eager audiences on Coupang  Play!

6. The good bad mother 

   

The good bad mother is a warm and emotional show portraying raw human emotions. This jTBC show tells the story of a cold-hearted prosecutor who gets amnesia unexpectedly and has to return to his mother to be taken care of. It follows the temperament of the hard-working woman who runs a pig farm and was widowed at an early age. The relationship between the two is beautifully depicted. This slice-of-life K-drama is scheduled to air its first episode on April 26.

7. Family: The Unbreakable Bond 

Here is another nail-biting K-drama! Family is an upcoming thriller which tells the tale of a secret agent of the National Intelligence Service whose identity is unknown to his family. While his super important secret job prevents him from giving a lot of time to his wife, his wife finds it as the perfect opportunity to keep her own secrets. Starring Jang Hyuk; Jang Na-ra; Chae Jung-an and Kim Nam-hee, the show goes through multiple twists that will keep one’s eyes glued to the screen. It is set to release its first episode on April 17 on TvN and will also be released on DIsney+ in selected areas.

8. Queen of the mask

Featuring Kim Sun-a, Oh Yoon-ah, Shin Eun-Jung, and Yoo Sun in the main roles, Queen of the Mark is a captivating K-drama with the most spectacular women in the industry. The 16-episode-long show delves into the lives of four estranged friends and the secrets they harbour to overcome the jealousy that plagues them. The show is one of the most anticipated Korean dramas in April 2023. It is set to air on Channel A from April 24.

9. Stealer: The Treasure Keeper

Stealer: The Treasure Keeper is another gripping series dealing with the double life of a civil servant. A miserable civil servant, played by Joo Won, becomes a thief by night stealing important cultural assets from his own department. Investigations and recovery of a few antiquities lead to both his lives crumbling down. This TvN show is set to air on April 12.

10. Bora! Deborah

Starring Yoo In-Na in the titular role, Bora! Deborah is a romantic comedy following our beloved trope Enemies-to-lovers. K-dramas are known for their slow-budding romances and this show is no different. It follows the story of a best-selling author and dating coach whose love life is ironically in shambles. Her life takes a turn when she meets publishing planner Lee Soo-hyeok who hates her and his friend Han Sang-jin (Joo Sang-Wook), a publishing house CEO, who avoids attachments. The show is scheduled to air its pilot on April 12 on ENA.

11. The fate of heaven/ Meant to be 

Last but not the least, The Fate of Heaven is a philosophical show that will make you question your life and reflect on the choices you make on a daily basis. The show revolves around the story of a father who indulges in his desires to such an extent that leads him to ruin his daughters’ lives. The show also deals with how the daughters, despite being in the same circumstances, follow different paths as decided by their fate.
