List of Indian Web Series Released in June 2023

Following the tremendous success of blockbuster shows such as Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, Yeh Meri Family season 2, and Dahaad in May, the upcoming June OTT release list promised to be equally exciting. Get ready for a thrilling lineup, including the highly anticipated series Asur 2 and the much-awaited Scoop helmed by renowned director Hansal Mehta. Without further ado, let’s check the list of the most binge-worthy Indian web series released in June 2023:

1. Asur 2 | June 1 |Jio Cinema

Asur is making a highly anticipated comeback with its second season, after a long wait of 3 years. It is a psychological mystery-thriller series that showed us that a dark side of mythology could exist too! The first season showed the life of an ex-forensic expert who returned to his former job to catch a serial killer. However, the serial killer is a spiritual cult commander! Now, Asur 2 is back to give us more thrills, chills, and a lot of goosebumps. The second season has introduced some new elements like Kali vs. Kalki’s tale while also keeping the myth plus modern-day technology theme intact. Oftentimes, it is very challenging for any thriller series or movie to continue to the same story with a new unexpected twist but Asur 2 was successful in doing so! Directed by Oni Sen and led by the talented Arshad Warsi, Asur 2 carries high expectations due to the immense success of its debut season and it got rave reviews too. 2. Scoop |June 2 |Netflix

After watching Scam 1992, I was eagerly waiting for another masterpiece from Hansal Mehta, and he is surely back with another gem – Scoop. It is a crime-drama series that stars Karishma Tanna, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Harman Baweja in important roles. Based on a book written by journalist Jigna Vora, the series encompasses the journey of a journalist who was searching for crime stories but somehow gets drawn into deep waters. She is accused of her colleague’s murder and has no way to escape. What happens next? The whole series of just 6 episodes have not gone astray from the topic, the movie also leaves us questioning the integrity of the fourth pillar of democracy- media. It has got a 7.7 IMDB rating and could keep you intrigued till the end. Watch it on Netflix from June 2 onwards.

3. School of Lies | June 2 |Disney + Hotstar

Releasing on Disney Hotstar+, the trailer of School of Lies showcases the disappearance of a schoolboy. Suspected of kidnapping, the police are putting in blood, sweat, and tears to uncover the truth. The series is directed by Avinash Arun Bhavare and stars Nimrat Kaur, Divyansh Dwivedi, and Varin Rupani. Interestingly, the School of Lies series is inspired by true events, but the makers have not disclosed the details of the original event. To maintain the story as a mystery, they have set it in the fictional town of Dalton, along with a fictional boarding school as well. The movie explores the complexities of children and also talks about PTSD. However, the story is slow and did not sit well with many of the audience, getting mixed reviews.

4. Gyaarah Gyaarah | Final release date not out yet |Zee5 

Gyaarah Gyaarah is a show produced in collaboration with Oscar award winners Guneet Monga Kapoor and Karan Johar. The show is directed by Umesh Bist, known for his work in the film Paglait, and also stars the famous dancer Raghav Juyal in an important role. It is a Zee5 original show that is a remake of a Korean show- Signal, it follows the story of a psycho killer who repeats his murders every three years over the span of 11 years and all 3 times a different cop tries to piece together the puzzle of the case. The show also features Kritika Kamra, and Dhairya Karwa in prominent roles among others.  All the same, the date of the release of the series is still not announced maybe will release in the coming few months, and we are hoping to see some falling-off-the-chair storyline!

5. Shaitan | June 15 |Disney + Hotstar 

Shaitan is a Telugu action drama directed by the renowned director Mahi V. Raghav. It shows the story of a mother of three children who joins Naxalites to fight against the injustice of the police and safeguard her children at any cost. It has been released on Disney+Hotstar and you can now stream it from June 15.  Sai Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Deviyani Sharma, and Jaffer Sadiq are playing the lead roles in the show.

6. Kerala Crime Files | June 23 |Disney + Hotstar 

Kerala Crime Files is an upcoming Malayalam crime drama thriller series featuring Lal and Aju Varghese. Interestingly, the series is directed by Ahmad Kabir, known for masterpieces like June and Madhuram. The show takes place in 2011 and revolves around two determined cops who are on a mission to catch a serial killer responsible for brutally murdering several women. It started with a receptionist discovering some dead bodies in a lodge room of sex workers and turns into a big serial killer crime case. This cat-mouse chase between the police and the murderer could keep a lot of you intrigued!

7. Rafuchakkar | June 15 |Jio Cinema

The web series is directed by Ritam Srivastava and stars Manish Paul as Pawan, a conman who employs trickery, impersonation, and illusions to deceive and loot rich and corrupt people. However, his luck runs out when a shrewd Crime Branch Officer apprehends him. Matnish’s character brings witty charm to the movie, and Ritu Bhandari breathes life into the courtroom drama that unfolds in the series.  It will be interesting to see Manish Paul perform as a con artist. The series is scheduled to release on Jio Cinema on June 15 and could be a nice choice to binge-watch on a rainy day!

8. The Night Manager 2  |June 29 |Disney + Hotstar

After the successful first season, The Night Manager is ready for its second installment. It is a remake of the British TV series of the same name, which is also based on the novel ‘The Night Manager’ by John Le Carre and the Hollywood movie had big names like Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman playing the lead roles. And, the Indian series stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala. The show revolves around an undercover agent who goes rogue to apprehend a mafia boss. Interestingly, the show was so much awaited and had high demand that the makers decided to pre-release the show by one day, i.e., June 29 instead of June 30. Watch the show on Disney+Hostar now!

9. Jee Karda |June 15| Amazon Prime

Jee Karda is a romance drama series directed by Arunima Sharma that stars Tamanna Bhatia, Suhail Nayyar, Anya Singh, Hussain Dalal, and others in prominent roles. The eight-episode long show is about the life of seven childhood friends who grew up together with the idea that their lives will be sorted by the time they turn 30. But does that happen for any of them? For that, we have to watch the series. It is a light-hearted show that would bring us many moments of love and laughter. The show received a good response from the audience and got a high rating of 8/10 on IMDB. You can stream it now on Amazon Prime.

11. UP65 |June 8| JioCinema

It is a buddy comedy show based on a popular Hindi novel ‘UP65’ written by Nikhil Sachan. The show is directed by Gaganjeet Singh. It stars Shine Pandey, Abbas Ali Ghazanvi, Pritam Jasiwal, and Pragati Mishra in important roles. UP65 is a coming-of-age story of a group of youngsters studying in an Engineering college in Banaras and trying to balance love, career, and everything else while creating many humorous situations throughout their journey. It is a light-hearted comedy series that would create nostalgia for many viewers and would seem relatable to most of us. The show has got a nice rating of 8/10 on IMDB.

12. Sandeep Bhaiya |June 30| Youtube-TVF|

TVF (Viral Fever) productions have churned out many youth-inspired shows that have got a huge fan base owing to their relatable stories, characters, and emotions. One of the famous shows created by TVF was the coming-of-age show called Aspirants. And the character of  Sandeep Bhaiya played by Sunny Hinduja (his famous character from the series Aspirants) is someone people can’t forget even after 2 years. The makers have come up with a spin-off show based on the character of Sandeep Bhaiya- showing his journey of growing up in Prayagraj and his struggles while preparing for the UPSC entrance exams. Apart from the main character of Sandeep Bhaiya, the other important roles are played by Deepali Gautam, Rajendra Gupta, and  Puneet Tiwari, among others. The show is directed by Parijat Joshi, Ajeet Kumar, Aashish Kushwaha, and Saurabh Shukla and releases on June 30 on Youtube.
