He’s always popular for investing in several startups and stocks which makes up for his high earnings and net value.

Who exactly is Amit Jain?

Amit Jain was born on 17 November 1976 in a Jain family in Jaipur, Rajasthan. His father was an astrologist whereas his mother is a homemaker. He completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur. He received a degree in B. Tech from IIT Delhi in 1999 for which he passed national-level examinations. After his graduation in 2000, he worked at a software development firm in a company called Trilogy and he worked for several years there.

How did he start CarDekho?
After working as a Senior Associate, Delivery Manager and Product Manager at Texas-based company Trilogy, he came back to India when he discovered his father’s cancer. They were expected to dive back into the astrology business, but they lacked interest in the field. He decided to pursue a different path. His initial plan compromised of opening an IT business in his hometown.
Along with his brother, he co-founded a business called GirnarSoft. However, while attending an Auto Expo held in New Delhi, they came up with the idea of CarDekho. They incorporated the website and started working towards their business. But the journey wasn’t always so smooth for them. In 2009, they had to face a loss of ₹1 crore in stock losses. They had no capital left after losing their hard-earned money. To compensate for this, they brought the idea of CarDekho to life and well, the rest is history. CarDekho became a huge success as they currently have a valuation of 1.2 billion. It became a unicorn company in 2021.
