Latest South Indian Movies On OTT In April 2023 To Binge On

   

The South Indian Film industry has a lot in store for us this month. We have back-to-back thrilling movies that are set to release theatrically in April. OTT platforms have also hopped on the train of giving us an entertainment-filled summer. Platforms like Aha, Zee5, Amazon Prime, etc have made it a point to present before us a diverse range of films to choose from. Let’s take a look at the latest South Indian Films on OTT in April 2023 that you can watch!

   

1. Romancham 

The horror comedy was released in theatres in February of this year and is now all set to have its OTT release. The movie, directed by Jithu Madhavan follows the story of a few village friends who play with the infamous Ouija board and incur its wrath. It is a full-on entertainer and is widely recognized for managing to blend horror and comedy so well. The Malayalam movie has been streaming on Disney+ since the 7th of April.

2. Ayothi 

Ayothi is a Tamil language action drama film. It is the directorial debut of R. Manthira Moorthy and stars M. Sasikumar, Preethi Asrani, and Yashpal Sharma among others. The movie will take you on an emotional ride with its true portrayal of human emotions and values. The screenplay of the movie is commendable. Ayothi has proven to be the most awaited South Indian movie on OTT in April 2023 and is now available to watch on Zee5.

3. Das ka Dhamki 

Directed by the main lead himself, Vishwak Sen, the movie also stars Nivetha Pethuraj and Akshara Gowda. It is a Telugu comedy action movie which was a hit among the masses. The engaging plot with unexpected twists and turns was the recipe for commercial success. The audience especially liked the main lead’s role as the director which helped make the movie a little more nuanced. Das ka Dhamki will be streaming on Aha from April 14th.

4. Pranaya Vilasam 

Pranaya Vilasam is a Malayalam movie which has a rather cute plot. The movie is a romantic drama that revolves around a seemingly peaceful family in North Kerala. The movie’s songs are what won the audience’s hearts along with the beautiful story. The direction by Nikhil Muraly has taken the movie to a whole different level making it a must-watch! The movie is available to watch on Zee5!

5. Rangamarthanda 

Starring Prakash Raj, Brahmandandam, Shivathmika Rajashekhar and Ramy Krishnan, Rangamarthanda is another emotionally stirring movie with a meaningful plot. The movie delves into the retirement of a renowned theatre artist called Rangamarthanda who engages in philanthropic and charity work after his retirement. The movie has done an excellent job of putting forth a valuable message that the youth in India today need to remember. While Brahmandandam is usually known for his comedic nature, the movie portrays him in a completely different light which the audience seemed to have loved. This Telugu movie is now available to watch on Amazon Prime.

   

6. Kabzaa 

Kabzaa is a Kannada period action drama starring Upendra Rao, Shriya Saran and Tanya Hope. It is inspired by the famous movie KGF and has tried to follow a similar pattern of direction and screenplay but with its own twists. having been theatrically released on 17th March 2023, the movie might not have been a commercial hit but it seems to seek redemption with its OTT release on April 14 on Amazon Prime. The short cameo of Kichha Sudeep is something you need to look out for.

7. Kannai Nambathey 

Directed by Mu. Maran, Kannai Nambathey is a Tamil Crime thriller starring Aathmika, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Subiksha. The movie starts on a romantic note but soon takes a grimy turn when murders get involved and the main lead falls into trouble. The background score of the movie back up the excellent screenplay which makes the movie enticing to watch. The OTT release of Kannai Nambathey is scheduled to be on April 14 on Netflix.

8. Thuramukham 

Thuramukham is the inspirational story of the protests by labourers against the Chapa system prevalent in Cochin during the 1940s-50s. Based on a play of the same name by Chidambran, it deals with the uprising of labourers against this draconian system. The movie stars Nivin Pauly, Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, and Sudev Nair among others. Rajiv Ravi, the director and thee cinematographer of the movie was highly appreciated for his work on this movie. The theatrical release of the movie on 10th March of this year was welcomed by the audience and the movie is all set to release on OTT on 28th April of this year. Although originally made in Malayalam, the movie is also expected to be released in other South Indian languages only on ZEE5

9. O kala 

Directed by Deepak Kolipaka, this Telugu drama film is set to release on Hotstar on April 13th. Not much is known about the film, watch it only on Disney+ Hotstar to find out!

10. N4

Tamil movie, N4 is a crime thriller which had the audience engaged at its very beginning. Directed by Lokesh Kumar, the film stars Michael Thangadurai, Gabriella Sellus, Akshay Kamal and Afsal Hameed. The plot, written by the director himself, unravels itself slowly but in a suspenseful manner which keeps the audience’s interest piqued till the very end. It narrates the tale of karma and how different lives in the close-knit community of Kasimedu are interwoven through a gripping series of crimes. The movie is now available to watch on Amazon Prime.
