We can choose from an array of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films with a variety of genres, plots and also actors. 1. Meter
A Telugu action comedy, Meter stars Kiran Abbavaram and Athulya Ravi as the main leads. Written and directed by Ramesh Kaduri, the movie is a complete action fest. The movie was widely appreciated for the male lead’s stunning looks and stellar performance. The movie is now available to watch on Netflix.
2. Corona papers
This crime action movie takes on a completely new plot to keep the viewers engaged throughout. The pandemic is a fairly new topic to make a movie on but Priyadarshan arrived on time to the scene with a fresh and gripping action thriller. The movie depicts the chase between the police and a few notorious thieves who delve into serious theft during the pandemic. Initially released in theatres on 14th April of this year, Sopanna Sundari is a dark comedy movie dealing with the complexities of human nature and social interactions. The movie revolves around a car and the several supposed owners it has. But that’s not all. What makes the movie a spectacular laugh riot is the unexpected twists and turns the plot takes throughout the movie. Each character has its own quirks that add to the entertainment of the movie. In case you missed watching this masterpiece in theatres, worry not because the movie is set to release on Disney+ on May 12.
A thriller, Thiruvin Kural is an emotionally stirring movie with moments of intensity that would leave anyone baffled. Starring Arulnithi, Aathmkia and Bharathiraja as the main leads, this Tamil movie is something that you would want to watch. It deals with the struggles of a young man with a disability facing notorious goons and protecting his loved ones against them. It is set to release on Netflix on May 12.
5. Enthada Saji
Enthada Saji is a Malayalam fantasy comedy movie starring Nivetha Thomas and Kunchacko Boban. It tells the sad yet funny story of a woman who is made fun of for not being able to marry until a saint comes to her rescue and solves her woes. The movie was appreciated for its depiction of the highs and lows a person experiences in one’s life and the presence of God through it all. It is scheduled for its OTT release on Prime Video on May 6.
6. August 16 1947
Produced by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt, Narsiram Choudhary and Vakil Khan, August 16, 1947, is a Tamil period drama with a unique and interesting plot. It is a fictional story but it portrays the true behaviour of the British officials towards Indians- especially villagers. The narration of the movie is perfect and both the directors and the actors have done a wonderful job, justifying the roles that they were playing. It was well received by the audience on its theatrical release. It will be released on Amazon Prime on May 5.
7. Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi
Pahalan Abbayi Phalana Ammayi or PAPA is a Telugu romantic movie that covers the relationship of high school friends for over 10 years. The bond between them is special and the depiction of such a beautiful bond is done brilliantly throughout the movie. While the couple seems to have several rifts between them, one thing is clear, their love never fades away. It shows the power love holds and how time plays an important role in strengthening the bond between two individuals. PAPA is set to release on Sun NXT in the first week of May.
