In a house where comfort reigns, it is pleasant, warm and “sincerely”. A cozy home sets up positive emotions, gives joy, promotes dialogue. It is equally attractive for the hosts themselves and for their guests. It is not for nothing that cozy houses are called hospitable. At the same time, the furnishings of such houses may not be too expensive, not at all fashionable, and not even stylish. So what makes up a cozy atmosphere? How to create comfort in the house and bring warmth to it?
1. “Cozy palette”: choose colors
What tones will make the interior sincere and hospitable? Of course, it’s warm. The colors of tea, coffee with milk, ruddy cupcake, live flame and old wood will help create a relaxing atmosphere. You can, of course, take other tones, but only in their warm interpretation. After all, any color has more or less warm shades, including blue, and gray, and white.
Warm tones can visually slightly reduce the interior.
2. The warmth of wood
The color and structure of the tree have a beneficial effect on the psyche. Interiors in which there is a lot of wood or its imitation soothe and warm. If you want to create coziness in your home, include the color and pattern of wood in decoration, furniture, and decor. Floors, walls, ceiling can be made of wood. Ceiling beams (wooden or imitation wood) are perceived very positively.
3. Fireplace in the house
It is not for nothing that the expression about the “hearth and home” appeared. Since ancient times, the stove has been a symbol of comfort. Fireplaces are perceived in the same way, capable of making any room warm and hospitable. Even if this is not a real fireplace, but just an imitation, its presence in itself creates an inviting atmosphere.

To create comfort in the house, you need to think carefully about the lighting system. In moments of relaxation, a person prefers soft subdued light. And it is desirable that it be warm.
Floor lamps, sconces, table lamps – that’s what you can not do without, creating a cozy interior. The ability to change the intensity of lighting should be provided in every room of the house, and especially in the hallway, living room, dining room and bedroom.

There is no need to stack magazines on the table in an even pile and hang towels in one row. A bit of asymmetry and a slight touch of chaos will make the rooms look more welcoming. In a house with perfect order, a person experiences a feeling of slight anxiety – afraid of disturbing the “idyll” by crumpling the bedspread or hanging the towel unevenly.
9. Furniture “cocktail”
Mixed furniture assembled from different sets looks cozy at home. There is a design saying: “If you don’t want your home to look like a furniture store, don’t buy all your furniture in one store.” It is unlikely that a furniture store is a model of comfort.
By mixing items from different collections, designers create truly cozy interiors. So, you can refuse to buy a ready-made set of upholstered furniture with a sofa, armchairs and ottomans, and purchase everything separately – in different colors and even, possibly, from different materials. For example, a plain leather chair and a pair of striped or floral ottomans are perfect for a checkered sofa.
It is not necessary that the coffee table matches the furniture wall and TV stand. It is beautiful, of course, when the main part of the hard furniture is made in the same color. However, some, especially small items (for example, a coffee table, console, nightstand) may differ. This is what makes the house not like a store.
10. Comfortable dining area
The design of this area should be given increased attention, especially if the dining area is located in the living room or in the kitchen-studio. The table should literally be an invitation to the meal. The convenience of the dining area is created by chairs. Choose the most comfortable and soft, you can with armrests, some outdoor bean bag. Cushions can be placed on the seats. The table itself can also look appetizing: cover it with a tablecloth or and put the “runner”, put a bowl of fruit or a candy bowl in the center. If the table is near a wall, hang pictures or posters of something delicious, such as a cup of cappuccino or a cake, on it.
11. Ottomans and pillows
Throw pillows, poufs and banquettes add comfort and coziness. Sofas, armchairs and chairs with cushions literally invite you to sit down. The bedroom will become cozier if you decorate the bed with pillows.
Ottomans and banquettes in various areas also work to increase comfort. So, for example, if there is nothing to sit on in the hallway, you cannot call it cozy. A small neat bench will make the hallway area more ergonomic and comfortable.
Ottomans are indispensable in living rooms. They are located near armchairs and sofas. They are often used as footrests. Owners will definitely need it. Guests may not dare to throw their legs on the ottomans, but even the very presence of these elements makes the room more comfortable.
12. Something old
The gloss of novelty, not diluted with anything traditional or personal, alas, does not make the house cozy. Interiors that give the impression of being uninhabited do not look warm and welcoming.
The house needs to be “lived in” with the help of decor, leaving memorabilia, old photographs, collection items, souvenirs brought from travels, etc.
These can be, for example, a slightly shabby sugar bowl inherited from a grandmother, a telephone set from a parent’s house, a used book collection, a children’s drawing in a frame, black and white photographs from childhood, a restored chest of drawers bought at a flea market, a Greek-style vase brought from holidays, and much more.
13. Flowers in the house
Flowers not only decorate the house, but also make it cozy. They can be everywhere: on cabinets, tables, on the floor, on window sills, on walls. Fresh flowers in vases, indoor plants in flower pots, images of flowers in paintings – there is a place for everything.
14. Books and magazines for visitors
Do not leave coffee tables empty – this deprives the room of comfort. Put a few magazines, a book, a photo album on it. Firstly, it is a sign for the guests that they were expected. Secondly, by looking at magazines and books, guests will make a conclusion about your interests. This is a good reason to start a conversation (useful in case people visiting the house for the first time feel a little awkward).
15. Tea and coffee comfort in the kitchen
Everything related to these drinks will make the kitchen incredibly cozy: a coffee pot, a “fun” teapot, a retro coffee grinder, a vintage tea can, bright tea pairs, cookie coasters – the choice is huge. Both the owners and guests will find this cuisine very sincere.
