16 Best Cricket Moments From Last Month: August 2023

Well, August just ended and I still feel that the year just started. Is it just me or do you also feel that time is literally flying right now? Well, one possible reason for why it feels this way is the fact that we had a very happening month especially when it comes to cricket. In this article, we got you the best cricket moments from last month: August 2023.

1.)  Lord Rinku Hits 3 Sixes Off Last Over To Win The Game

Well, Rinku Singh is just magical as a player, put him in a pressure situation and he tries his best to win from there. In a match in the ongoing UP T20, Meerut Mavericks needed 17 runs to win in a super over. Rinku Singh won the Mavericks the game by hitting 3 sixes in the super-over in almost the same fashion as he did against Gujarat Titans before.

In the second ODI of the series between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Gurbaz hit his ODI-best score of 151. This knock is brilliant as he was playing against some of the finest pacers in the world in Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah.

5.) Fazalhaq Farooqui ‘Mankads’ Shadab Khan

One of the most interesting ways to run out a batsman in my opinion is running out a batsman at the non-striker’s end. What Ashwin started is now slowly becoming a trend in world cricket. In the recently concluded ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Afghanistani pacer Fazalhaq Farooqui ran out Shadab Khan at the non-striker’s end.

6.) Jaspirit Bumrah Has Now Bowled The Most Maiden Overs In T20I History

Jaspirit Bumrah made a return to world cricket after a long time and he made his comeback count. He made his comeback in the recently concluded T20 series between India and Ireland where Bumrah performed so amazingly that he has now become the bowler to have bowled the most maiden overs in T20I history!

7.) Bumrah Wins Player Of The Series On Captaincy Debut

Jaspirit Bumrah as I stated above made his comeback in world cricket in the T20I series between India and Ireland. He not only made his comeback but also made his captaincy debut in T20Is. And Bumrah led his team from the front as he won the Player Of The Match award on his captaincy debut match and also won the Player Of The Series! Now that’s a comeback.

8.) Rinku Singh Wins His Maiden Player Of The Match In International Cricket

One of the most loved players among Indian fans right now has to be Rinku Singh. Following his remarkable season in the IPL, he earned his debut in T20 Internationals and in his second match won the Player Of  The Match for his batting.

9.) Mujeeb Rahman Hits Fastest ODI Fifty For Afghanistan

In the 3rd ODI of the series between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mujeeb Rahman played a superb knock hitting 64 runs in just 37 balls. Though he still ended on the losing side, he managed to hit the fastest fifty in ODIs for Afghanistan. He hit his fifty in just 26 balls and the best part is that he is a leg spin bowler and not really known for his batting.

10.) Pakistan Defeats India To Win Gold At IBSA World Games 2023

Pakistan defeated India to win the gold medal at the IBSA World Games 2023. IBSA World Games is the biggest sporting event for players with visual impairment and for the first time cricket was included in the games. 11.) Sunil Narine Becomes The First Cricketer Ever To Get A Red Card!

Yeah, you read that right, Sunil Narine became the first cricketer ever to get a red card and thus not allowed to participate in the rest of the game. In the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, a new rule has been introduced wherein to penalize a team, a player from the fielding team can be given a red card.

12.) Jacques Kallis’s Beautiful Strokeplay Still Dazzles Fans

Jacques Kallis was one of the best all-rounders and the best South African player to ever play cricket. Kallis is always remembered for his amazing strokeplay and his formidable batting. Fans of today’s generation like me got to see a glimpse of Kallis’s magic in the US Masters T10 League.

13.) Manish Pandey’s Crazy Feilding Goes Viral

After a long time, we will be able to see Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in the blue jersey as both of them are now in the Asia Cup squad and will make their return from injury. While all of us were delighted to see them back in the squad, the exclusion of Yuzi Chahal was really felt hard.

15.) BCCI Forgot To Include Shubhman Gill In The Asia Cup Squad?

For the upcoming Asia Cup, BCCI released the Indian squad in which they forgot to include Shubhman Gill’s name. This causes confusion among fans. Within a few minutes, the error was fixed as BCCI released the squad again with Shubhman’s name. Even BCCI can commit errors too.

16.) UAE Defeats New Zealand And Becomes The First Associate Team To Do So

In a surprising turn of events, UAE emerged victorious against New Zealand in a T20 match, marking the first time that an associate team has defeated the Kiwis. Mohammad Waseem, a seasoned T20 player who has participated in many T20 Leagues across the globe, created history by smashing 55 runs in just 29 balls, leading his team to successfully chase down New Zealand’s target of 142.

While I agree we didn’t get to see India in action that much, I assure you the coming months are just going to be next-level. For starters, we will have India and Pakistan clash at least a couple of times as they will be competing in the Asia Cup and then in the World Cup.
