It is a thriller social drama based on the real-life story of a shelter home in India. The movie revolves around a young female journalist who is working on an investigation about a disturbing case of a shelter home where orphaned little girls are brought to stay and then abused. The movie was well received by both the critics and the audiences and has a 7.3 IMDb rating. The story is gripping and Bhumi Pednekar’s acting as a determined journalist will leave you impressed and wanting to watch more of her movies.

The Kerela Story is an intriguing and gut-wrenching crime drama about religious terrorism that happened in Kerela in the recent decade. The movie revolves around a joyous woman named Shalini Unnikrishnan, who is leading an ordinary life but some people and their conspiracies change her into a person who has lost her identity, religion, happiness, and even dreams. The movie was a smashing hit at the box office and many of the viewers are eagerly waiting for its release- the wait is finally over!

It is a comedy-drama telling the three anecdotal stories of small-town and village people and how they take drastic and highly unrealistic measures to survive. This anthology series is directed by national award-winning directors including Kaushik Ganguly Bhaskar Hazarika, and Gurvinder Singh. The movie stars Johnny Lever in the role of a village police officer, Jitendra Kumar who plays the husband of a powerless village Panchayat Sarpanch, among others. The writing is filled with many messages and issues to ponder over, but not in a preachy tone. Watching this satirical movie is worth it.
5. Dunki | Netflix | February 15
A comedy-drama about a group of friends- all of them aspiring to pass exams, job interviews, Visa interviews, and all possible hurdles- to emigrate to the United Kingdom. However, when all the ‘correct’ ways do not open up for them, they decide to risk their lives and choose an illegal way of entering the country, called the ‘donkey flight’. The movie has melodious songs, a stellar star cast, humor, emotions, and even a hint of patriotism (I guess so!). You can watch it on Netflix and give us your reviews, okay?
