This real-life incident is from Udagir village, Maharashtra, where a 20-year-old man named Ganapati Vitthal Wagore stole two buffalos and a calf 58 years ago in Bidar. Ganpati is now 78 years old and might have forgotten what he did during his youth (though he has to remember now).
This bizarre police case gets as crazier as it can be. The theft happened in 1956 (most of us weren’t even born at that time!) when a young man, along with a friend and co-accused Krishna Chandar, stole the animals and took them back to their house. It was the longest pending case among those filed in the local police station of Bidar, Karnataka.

The current status of the people involved
Apparently, the 78-year-old man has been arrested and sent to court for trial. His accomplice, Krishna Chandra, passed away in 2006. Police traced the family of the complainant and found them living in Kurki village in Maharashtra. The animals were returned to the family of the rightful owner, Muralidhar Manikarao Kulkarni, who also passed away a few years ago.
What was the court’s verdict?
The two accused were arrested and produced in court years ago, where they were found guilty and released on bail. However, after being released on bail, the two went into hiding, and an open warrant has been in force ever since. Now, the accused have been traced, and the case against Chandra has been dismissed due to his death in 2006. Vitthal has been produced in court once again. However, it is said that the court was already considering granting him bail, considering his age.
