2022 marked the proper renaissance of Indian movies in theatres after the pandemic. We’re approaching the end of the year but that does not mean it’s the end of the same enthusiasm of Bollywood. 2023 is another year packed with excellent releases and comebacks of a lot of stars. Bollywood is welcoming 2023 with these blockbuster releases in the first month. Here’s a list of the upcoming Bollywood movies in January 2023 that you need to look out for.
1. Pathaan
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is a thriller action movie starring Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. The first look of the movie garnered a lot of attention and it is the most awaited movie of 2023. Deepika Padukone in the film’s first song release- Besharm Rang, proved to be a heartthrob, crossing 42 million views in about 2 days. The movie is set to release on 25th January.
2. Mission Majnu
Siddharth Malhotra stole our hearts as Capt. Vikram Batra in Shershaah and now is set to do it once again as a RAW agent in Mission Majnu. It is directed by Shantanu Bagchi. The movie also stars South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna and is set to release on Netflix on January 19th.
3. Kuttey
Kuttey is the directorial debut of renowned director Vishal Bhardwaj’s son, Aasman Bhardwaj. The black comedy thriller includes an ensemble cast starring Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Tabu, Konkana Sen Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah and Kumud Mishra. A production of Vishal Bhardwaj Films, Luv Films, and T-Series Films, Kuttey is set for a theatrical release on 13th January.
4. Afwaah
Afwaah is a much-anticipated movie starring Naseeruddin Shah, Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. The plot and the release date of the movie have remained undisclosed.
5. Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh
Gandhi Godse provides an alternative ending to the real story of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse. In a turn of events, Gandhi survives the attempt at his life and renders Godse a visit in the prison. What happens next is an ideological debate that answers most Indians’ questions. It is directed and written by Rajkumar Santoshi and stars Chinmay Mandlekar and Deepak Antani.
