1. 72 Hoorain

72 Hoorain is a thought-provoking movie that shows the dark reality of the world and the chaos that we as humans can create in this world. It is the story of Fiyadeens who have brainwashed a lot of Islamic youths into believing that 72 hoorain (virgins) are waiting for them in Jannat (heaven) if they take part in Jihadi activities. Due to its sensitive subject matter, the film has sparked controversy. Directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, it features notable performances by Saru Maini, Aamir Bashir, and Pawan Malhotra in key roles.

2. Neeyat |July 7| Amazon Prime

Neeyat is a murder mystery film featuring Vidya Balan as Detective Mira Rao. The plot revolves around the birthday celebration of Ashish Kapoor, a billionaire in exile, where a murder occurs. The suspects are the family and friends attending the party, and Mira must utilize her detective skills to solve the case. Anu Menon directs the movie, while Girvani Dhayani, Advaita Kala, and Anu Menon collaborate on the screenplay. In addition to Vidya Balan and Ram Kapoor, other notable actors such as Rahul Bose, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, and Prajakta Koli play important roles in the film.

Tarla Dalal is a big name in the food industry- she was a successful food writer, cookbook author, and chef, however, not many are aware of her journey. Tarla is a biographical movie directed by Piyush Gupta which shows the ups and downs of Tarla Dalal- the first woman ever to have her own cookery show, published cookbook, and the only Indian to win a Padamshree for her contribution to the field of cooking. The versatile actor Huma Qureshi is playing the role of Tarla in the movie and we are hoping to see her nail the role! The other actors playing important roles include Sharib Hashmi, Bharati Achrekar, Amarjeet Singh, Rajeev Pandey, Purnendu Bhattacharya, and Veenah Naair among others.

4. Ajmer 92 |July 14| Theatrical Release

Movies based on true events often excite, scare, and dumbstruck us at the same time and one such story is of Ajmer 92. This drama film was purportedly inspired by actual occurrences in Ajmer, Rajasthan in 1992. It revolves around the powerful family associated with the Ajmer Dargah gang rape scandal in which many girls were blackmailed and raped (including minors).  The movie stars Karan Verma, Sumit Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Sayali Shinde, Manoj Joshi, and Zarina Wahab in prominent roles and is directed by Pushpendra Singh.

   

5. Bawaal |July 21 | Amazon Prime

Bawaal is making headlines because of its World War backdrop, the fresh pairing of Varun-Jhaanvi, and its connection with Effiel Tower! Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala, known for their work on Chichhore, this action-packed drama-romance revolves around a man who falls in love with the town’s most beautiful woman and aspires to marry her to elevate his social standing. Also, it is said to have a reference to World War 2 but not much is revealed on it. Another interesting piece of news stated related to Bawaal is that it is going to become the first Indian film to have its world premiere at Eiffel Tower in Paris! Alongside Jaahnvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, the movie features Parth Siddhpura, Shashie Vermaa, and Gunjan Joshi in pivotal roles. Look out for its release in July 2023 on Amazon Prime.

6. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani |July 28| Theatrical Release

Ever since the teaser of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani dropped, it created a lot of stir online and the movie’s scenes replicating many scenes from Karan Johar’s old iconic movies are talked about by the audiences! This romantic family drama flick directed by Karan Johar looks like a total Bollywood masala movie! It depicts a love story set in the middle of a complex family drama. It has every pop of color that you would expect from a Dharma movie. The Gullyboy couple Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt are reuniting to create the same magic on big screens. Apart from the main couple, the movie also stars other big names like Dharmendra, Shabana Azami, and Jaya Bachchan in prominent roles. Interestingly, Jaya Bachchan is seen in a negative role for the first time.

7. Blind| July 7| JioCinema

It is a crime thriller movie that shows the story of Gia, a smart woman who is trying to come to terms with living life without eyesight. However, her life is filled with more darkness when she becomes the only witness to a heinous crime and now has to unwittingly play the game of cat and mouse with the culprit. The movie is produced by Sujoy Ghosh, directed by Shome Makhija, and features Sonam Kapoor, Lucy Arden, Shubham Saraf, Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillette Dubey among others.

It is a quirky comedy-drama about a single working mother whose world turns upside down when her son demands the most unexpected thing from her- a new father on a 30-day ‘Trial Period’! The movie has got a good rating of 7.1 on IMDb and has got a great star cast including Genelia D’souza, Manav Kaul, Shakti Kapoor, Sheebba Chaddha, and Gajraj Rao playing pivotal characters in the movie. This funny family drama directed by Aleya Sen was released on July 21 2023 on JioCinema.
