Hansal Mehta’s Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’s Release Date is Out!
Hansal Mehta has proven his metal with the resounding success of Scam 1992 and the recent release of Scoop. And now, once again he announced the release of his upcoming project- Scam 2003: The Telgi Story. The announcement came on the occasion of Sony LIV 2.0 completing its remarkable three-year journey! The series is a crime biography drama about Abdul Telgi a master forger who skillfully manipulates crucial documents like passports, and counterfeit stamps and builds an empire out of this business! The show stars Gagan Dev Riar in the compelling lead role and is set to release on September 2, 2023.
Scam 2003: Release Date and Story
This Hansal Mehta and Tushar Hiranandani directorial is releasing on 2nd September at midnight on Sony Liv. The series is based on true events surrounding the infamous Abdul Karim Telgi scam.
Inspired by the book “Reporter Ki Diary” written by journalist Sanjay Singh, it delves into the life of Abdul Karim Negi, who was born in Khanapur, Karnataka. Seeking to get rid of poverty with quick and unconventional methods, Abdul, a vegetable and fruit vendor, discovers the illegal business of document forgery and gets involved in it. Gradually, he expands his business to counterfeit stamps and money laundering, eventually becoming the kingpin of this scam industry at the time!
The whole show is focused on showing the rise and fall of the infamous Karim Telgi and his notorious ways of racing to the top of the game.

Star cast in Scam 2003: The Telgi Story
Veteran actor Gagan Dev Riar, who played a role in the Sushant Singh Rajput starter movie Sonchiriya, is cast to play the lead role of Abdul Karim. Joining him are the other prominent actors including Mukesh Tiwari (renowned for Vasooli bhai in the Golmaal series), Dinesh Lal Yadav (a big name in the Bhojpuri industry), Shaad Randhawa, and Sana Ameen Sheikh, among others.

The recent announcement video for Scam 2003 features the same background music as Scam 1992, generating positive responses and high expectations for another hit from the makers.
Hansal Mehta who is known to introduce new talented faces like Prateek Gandhi in Scam 1992 narrated the story of a small Gujarati businessman and stock market trader in 90s Bombay who saw a meteoric rise because of his insider trading, made a blast with this series!
He has also co-directed the recent Netflix crime-drama series Scoop which received a 7.7 IMDb rating and has made his own place in the industry with his engaging narration style.
