1. Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child | August 1 | Netflix

Most athletes or players choose their sport as a first profession and then venture into other fields, right? Well, our very own Problem Child has a different story to tell the world! Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child is a sports documentary movie about a social media personality and YouTuber, Jack Paul who turned into a professional boxer. It is the third installment of the Untold franchise Netflix has given out documentaries on various infamous sports incidents and revealed the untold stories,  and this Jack Paul documentary is directed by Andrew F. Renzi.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem | August 2 | Released in Theatres

The famous turtle brothers are back again after living in shelters for a long time! Yup, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in New York trying to adapt as normal teenagers, meanwhile also trying to take over a crime syndicate working mysteriously in the city with a whole army of mutants! Now, it is up to the ninja turtle along with their new friend April O’Neil to fight back against the crime and revive the peace. This action animation movie that sounds pretty adventurous is directed by Jeff Rowe and stars Nicolas Cantu, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan, Micah Abbey, Brady Noon, and Ayo Edebiri in prominent roles.

3. Meg 2: The Trench | August 4 | Released in Theatres

This pure adventure movie looks promising enough to keep you on the edge of your seat! Meg 2: The Trench is based on the 1999 science fiction horror novel The Trench written by Steve Alten. It is directed by Ben Wheatley and shows the story of Jonas Taylor, the leader of a research team that goes on an exploratory dive into the deepest and darkest part of the ocean but their mission turns into a chaotic and dangerous mess when they face giant colossal and prehistoric sharks and now they have a battle to fight against these man-eaters and come back up alive. This adrenaline-pumping movie is the best for a weekend adventure watch! Meg 2 stars Jason Statham, Able Wanamakok, Li Bingbing, and Sienna Guillory, among others.

4. Gran Turismo  | August 11 | Release in Theatres

It is a biographical coming-of-age drama movie based on the life of the famous gamer-turned-racer Jann Mardenborough. Jann was a winner of various Nissan-sponsored video game competitions and his passion for car race took him into the real world of car racing! This movie has some spectacular scenes from the car race scenes and a lot of what goes inside the lives of professional car racers. The movie is directed by  Neill Blomkamp and stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, Geri Halliwell Horner, and Djimon Hounsou in the leading roles.

   

5. Heart of Stone | August 11 | Netflix

Heart of Stone is another one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies in August that stars big names like Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in important roles. This spy action thriller flick follows the story of an international intelligence agent Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) is sent on a minacious mission to find and capture the MacGuffin called ‘Heart’ to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. The film is also the Hollywood debut movie of the Indian actress Alia Bhat. Furthermore, the audiences also watched it with high expectations since it is directed by the celebrated director of the MI (Mission Impossible) series Tom Harper. The movie did not do much justice to the actors. Although, if you want to watch Gal Gadot, Alia Bhatt, and Jamie Dornan in one frame- watching this film is great idea!

6. Blue Beetle | August 18 | Release in Theatres

Blue Beetle is an action-adventure movie that GOT 78% on Rotten Tomatoes! It is the story of a teenage boy Jamie Reyes who finds Scarab- an ancient relic of alien biotechnology. This relic chooses its symbiotic host and when Jamie possesses it- he becomes the host of the relic. He gets a suit with superpowers and turns him into a superhero- the Blue Beetle. It is exciting to go through the journey of another superhero in the making, isn’t it? This new adventure movie is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and stars Xolo Mariduena, Bruna Marquezine, George Lopez, and Belissa Escobedo in important roles among others. The movie is refreshing and presents the first Latino superhero in the DC world.

7. The Monkey King | August 18 | Netflix

This animated action-adventure movie is about a monkey who finds a magical stick and together as a team he sets out with the stick to fight many gods, demons, dragons, and also his own ego that could be his own destructor! The film is directed by Anthony Stacchi and stars Stephanie Hsu, BD Wong, Jimmy O. Yang, and Hoon Lee in the main roles among others. The movie is inspired by an ancient Chinese tale and the adventures are centered around the Chinese culture.

8. White Bird | August 18 | Release in Theatres

White Bird is a war drama movie that narrates the tale of Julian’s grandmother who reveals her own story of courage to live in a Nazi-occupied place so that he can also get inspired and transform his life. This is a soulful and motivating movie based on the 2019 graphic novel White Bird by the best-selling author R. J. Palacio. It sure is a movie that is expected to leave a sweet aftertaste after we have watched it! It is directed by Marc Forster and features Gillian Anderson, Helen Mirren, and Bryce Gheisar in prominent roles.
