1. Insidious: The Red Door | Releasing in Theatres | July 7

The film is directed by Patrick Wilson, who plays the lead role of Josh Lambert. Other notable figures in the cast include Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, and Rose Byrne. Dalton challenges Josh about his nightmares being anything but real. And to stop these nightmares, the father-son must enter The Further once more to confront the evil spirits and their hauntings. Horror film lovers will love the film as there are plenty of glimpses of horror moments which makes it an immersive watch. The film’s teaser is terrifying and promises to close the hauntings of the Lamberts with thunder.

2. The First Slam Dunk | Releasing in Theatres | July 7 

The much-awaited anime is finally releasing in India this month. It is based on Takehiko Inoue‘s Slam Dunk manga series and produced by Toei Animations. The anime series aired on TV for the first time from 1993- 1996 and has a great fan following. The captivating movie is an example that good things deserve more chances. It will capture your heart even if you are not a basketball lover.

3. 72 Hoorain | Releasing in Theatres | July 7

The film is built upon the Quranic concept of Houri. It shows the extremists brainwashing people for suicide attacks in the name of Jihad for 72 virgins in heaven. The film is directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh Chauhan and stars Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in prime roles. It will be released in Hindi and 9 other languages including Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. 

4. Ajmer 92 | Releasing in Theatres | July 14

The bold and hard-hitting story is based on real-life events in Ajmer in 1992. It brings forth the story of some 250 non-muslim school and college girls who were targeted and raped by a group of young men. These men were led by influential Khadim family members Farooq and Nafis Chishty, responsible for caring for the Ajmer Dargah. The gripping storyline will catch your attention through and through and will enrage you! 

5. Neeyat | Releasing in Theatres | July 7

Vidya Balan leads the murder mystery, Neeyat. It also stars Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Dipannita Sharma, and Amrita Puri in prime roles. It is directed by Anu Menon. The film’s plot revolves around a detective trying to find out about mysterious murders at a billionaire’s party where nothing is as it seems and all the convicts have secrets of their own. 

6. Rangabali | Releasing in Theaters | July 7 

The upcoming Telugu comedy drama features Naga Shaurya, Yukti Thareja and Rajkumat Kasireddy in prime roles. It is directed by Pawan Basamasetti. People are excited to see Naga Shaurya in a never seen role. The story is about a hot-headed boy who falls in love with a doctor, leading to amusing situations.

7. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One | Releasing in Theatres | July 12

The American action spy film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The film is a sequel to Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018). It stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, and others in prime roles. Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent, and his team are on a mission to prevent a deadly new weapon from falling into the wrong hands.

8. Maaveeran | Releasing in Theatres | 14th July

Maaveeran is a Tamil language action thriller directed by Madonne Ashwin. He is known for receiving the National Film Award for Best Debut Director for his 2021 political satire, Mandela. In Maaveeran, Sivakarthikeyan reportedly essays the role of a cartoonist. The film features Siva Karthikeyan, Mysskin Aditi Shankar, and Yogi Babu as lead characters.

9. Haddi | Releasing on Zee5 |July 15

A film with a bold concept, Haddi is based on the realities of the marginalized transgender communities of India. It is directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, and 300 has real transgenders. We see Hari, a boy who desires to become a woman and is pulled into the world of transgender people. The film has Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Resh Lamba and Ila Arun in prominent roles.

10. Rocky or Rani Ki Prem Kahani | Releasing inTheatres | July 28

Karan Johar is back with one of the old-style Bollywood rom-com, and we can’t keep calm. It is his 9th directorial film. It stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Shabana Aazmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan. The film celebrates imperfection in a perfect world – in love, complexities around relationships, and our choices. 

   

11. Baby | Releasing in theaters | July 14

The Telugu film is a romantic family drama that stars Viraj Ashwin, Anand Deverakonda, Viraj Ashwin and Vaishnavi Chaitanya. It is directed by Sai Rajesh. It is a coming-of-age school love story with soulful music, great acting and heart touching storyline that is a treasure for lovers of the romantic genre films.

12. Barbie | Releasing in Theatres| July 21

The film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken and is the first live-action Barbie film. The fantasy comedy film revolves around Barbie and Ken and their happening and colourful lives in Barbie Land. However, certain imperfections in Barbie give her and Ken once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the real world and live among humans. Watch them cope with the challenges of the real world in a hilarious set-up. 

13. Bro | Releasing in theaters | July 28 

The upcoming film is a Telugu-language comedy directed by Samuthirakani. It is a remake of the Tamil film Vinodhaya Sitham released in 2021. It stars Pawan Kalyan, Priya Prakash Varrier, Sai Dharam Tej, and Ketki Sharma in pivotal roles. Bro chases the story of a selfish man who dies suddenly in an airplane crash. He is given a second chance at life to mend all the broken relationships and right all his wrongs.

14. The Trial| Releasing on Disney+Hotstar | July 14

Kajol is seen in a web series in this courtroom drama for the first time. The Trail is an intense drama where Noyonotiya, a lawyer and housewife, faces a mid-life crisis that hits her hard as her husband, a judge, is caught in a corruption scandal for asking for sexual favours. The show is an adaption of The Good Wife and is directed by Suparn Varma.

15. Aneethi | Releasing in theaters | July 21

The soon-to-release revenge drama is about Arjun Das’s character fighting injustice. It is directed by Vasanthabalan and has Dushara and Arjun Chidambaram in pivotal roles too. The breathtaking teaser of Aneethi shows us Arjun Das is on fire as a character in this film. 

16. Tarla | Releasing on Zee5 | July 7 

The Zee5 biopic is based on the real story of India’s most iconic chef and food journalist, Tarla Dalal. She was the first Indian women chef to become a household name in the 90s. Watch her come to your screens and redefine cooking for you as she makes her way to success and wins people’s hearts all over. It stars Huma Qureshi, Sharib Hashmi and Veenah Nair in prime roles and is directed by Piyush Gupta.

17. Bawaal | Amazon Prime Movie 

This Amazon Prime Movie will see Varun Dhawan and Jahnvi Kapoor paired together for the first time. Bawaal is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for directing many successful films, including Dangal. The romantic action drama explores the relationship dynamic of Rishi and Natasha. As Rishi is a middle-class boy who is head over heels for Natasha, but the real reason he wants to marry her is for her money.

18. Baki Hanma Season 2 |Releasing on Netflix | July 26

Season 2 of the famous anime series will be released in 2 parts. The first part, “The Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga,” will be released this month. The most awaited season, high on martial arts, will have new characters with epic clashes. 20. Journey of love  18+ (Malayali) | Releasing in Theatres | July 7

Nalesn K Gafoor, Nikhila Vimla, and Mathew Thomas reunited for this project after working for the Malayali superhit “Jo and Jo”. Both films are directed by Arun D Jose. The film is about young lovers who attempt to elope and get married, but will they be successful? A simple love story with an energetic performance by youngsters will surely be a refreshing watch.
