It is a divorce drama that’s about a much-in-love couple, Kapil and Soumya, who get married but end up getting divorced even when they are still madly in love with each other! But why? One can only watch and tell. The movie is a satirical take on a young couple living in a joint family in Indore and their chaotic life. Starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, this film is a family entertainer, and you can have a fun weekend watching it with the entire family. The movie has released on June 2 worldwide and is said to be performing well at the box office. Many reviewers are happy with the movie and claim it is not a top-notch movie but definitely a one-time watch.
2. Bloody Daddy | June 9| Jio Cinema
If you are craving to watch an action-packed movie by Shahid Kapoor after watching Farzi, Bloody Daddy is just for you. It’s a movie where you will see Shahid become a fighting machine and give you goosebumps! The movie is an adaptation of a 2011 French action-thriller- Sleepless Night which shows the story of a man whose son is kidnapped, and he has to return a stolen bag of cocaine to get his son back. The movie was released on June 09 on Jio Cinema. It has got pretty good reviews, some even comparing the action sequences with that of the John Wick series! 3. Adipurush |June 16|
Adipurush is a mega-budget movie (500 cr), making it the most expensive Indian film ever made. It is directed by the National Film Awards winner director Om Raut. The movie grandly depicts Ramayana. Also, the film features big names from both North and South Indian cinema- Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Devdutta Nage, and Saif Ali Khan. Will Adipurush get the same amount of success as Ramanand Sagar’s TV series Ramayana? Well, this curiosity is going to bring people of all age groups to flock to the cinema houses! Adipurush has released on June 16 nationwide in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages. And, despite having many controversies surrounding its dialogues written by Manoj Muntashir and the movie was even rereleased with the changed dialogues. However, Adipurush managed to become an average grosser and is still running in the theatres. If you want to catch this movie that has managed to remain in the headlines for so many months already (for reasons good and bad!), you can watch it in your nearby theatres.
4. Maidaan |June 23|
Maidaan is a biographical sports drama movie. You can expect a great script from the director of Badhaai Do, Amit Sharma, and the legendary producer Boney Kapoor. Ajay Devgan plays the role inspired by the coach Sayed Abdul Rahim. Interestingly, the movie will take you back to the time when the Indian football team qualified for the Olympics for the first time and show their struggles. If you like football and want to know about the Golden Era of Indian football, Maidaan is a must-watch! Though, the movie that was slated to release on June 23, 2023, is now moved ahead and will release in the next few months. So, in case are thinking that you missed it- it is not released yet!
5. Satyaprem ki Katha |June 29|
Do you remember the duo that fought the evil Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiya 2? Yes, that lovely pair is back with their magic. This time Kiara Advani and Kartik Aryan are reuniting in this musical romantic drama movie. Satyaprem ki Katha is about Stayaprem (Kartik Aryan), a Gujarati boy, and Katha (Kiara Advani) falling madly in love with each other. The couple falls in love and has nothing to worry about, but are they really getting a happy ending? Let’s see what this ‘Ki and Ka’ Jodi offers us this time! The movie has got mixed reviews and has much intense dark as well as funny scenarios. Directed by Sameer Vidhwans and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the movie has released in theatres on June 29. 6. Gumrah |June 4| Netflix
Starring Aditya Roy Kapoor in a twin role for the first time, Gumrah is a crime thriller that was released in the theatres on April 9, 2023, and is now available to stream on Netflix. The movie is based on real incidents that happen globally about crimes related to twins where it is impossible to find the real culprit due to lack of evidence! It is a Hindi remake of the 2019 movie Thadam. Gumrah is directed by Vardhan Ketkar, produced by T-Series Films, and also stars Mrinal Thakur and Ronit Roy in important roles. It has got 6.5 /10 ratings on IMDB and did not perform as well as expected. Though, the twin part is said to be tricky and interesting and you can watch it to form your own opinion on the movie.
7. Tiku Weds Sheru |June 23| Amazon Prime
It is a dark satire and a romantic drama movie that is produced by Kangana Ranaut. The movie is said to star the unconventional Jodi of Avneet Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for the first time in a movie. The movie shows us the journey of two survivors who want to pursue a career in acting meet by chance and marry each other. The movie goes on to depict how, despite every odds, they have a great zeal to live and celebrate life. Tiku Weds Sheru is directed by Sai Kabir and also stars Rahoul, Sanjay Mishra, and other factors in supporting roles. Some call the movie confusing, others call it an interesting and refreshing tale. 8. Lust Stories 2 |June 29| Netflix
The first series of Lust Stories was a huge success, therefore many people were rooting for some new gripping stories from the second part of the movie too. It is an anthology film about women and their quest for lust- each story is directed by a different director. The new season had 4 stories directed by R Balki, Konkana Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Amit Ravindranath Sharma. While the directors were all highly skilled, it did not get as much praise from the critics as the first season did, but the viewers are liking it and it already seems like a hit! The stories are enacted by an ensemble star cast including Vijay Varma, Tamanna Bhatia, Kajol, Mrunal Thakur, Nina Gupta, Tillotama Shome, Angad Bedi, and Kumud Mishra among others.
