South Indian movie industry gives so many smashing hits one after the other. With the ever-improving storylines and creative action thriller scenes- the South Indian industry is surpassing the popularity of Bollywood! 1. Thupparivaalan 2 |12 August
It is an action crime thriller movie about an intelligent detective Kaniyan Pongundran, who along with his partner aka sidekick Mano, solves a lot of cases. It is a sequel to the movie Thupparivaalan and the main leads are reprising their roles. Interestingly, the movie and its main characters are highly inspired by the writings of the British writer Arthur Conan Doyle and his characters Sherlock Holmes and Watson. If you prefer to watch a ‘whodunit’ movie- this new detective movie directed by Vishal and starring Darren Tassell, Vishal, and Rahman is a perfect watch!
2. Bhola Shankar |11 August
Bhola Shankar was one of the most anticipated movies of August 2023. It stars big names from the Telugu film industry like Chiranjeevi, Tamannah Bhatia, Keerthy Suresh, Rashmi Gautam, and Vennela Kishore among others. The movie is a remake of the 2015 Tamil film- Vedalam. It shows the story of a man Bhola who is a doting brother and cannot see his sister hurt. But, when his sister is harmed by a couple of goons- he makes it his life motive to hunt down and punish those notorious gangsters who can’t respect women. This action drama movie is directed by Meher Ramesh and got an average response from viewers- but if you like good songs and are a fan of Chiranjeevi- you could watch this one.
3. King of Kothaa |24 August
This Malayalam-language action thriller movie is about an inspector Shahul who brings back the ‘King’ to fight Kannan Bhai and his gangsters’ reigning powers in a terror-stricken town and fight them to restore peace once again. It is directed by Abhilash Joshiy and stars big names in the Malayalam industry including Dalquer Salman, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Soubin Shahir, and Ritika Singh among others. With great directors and actors working together- the movie surely gave us a true South Indian punch-packed action thriller!
4. Jailer |10 August
‘Jailer’ is a black-comedy action movie that has already created quite a buzz. And the reason is none other than our Thalaiva- Rajnikanth! The movie stars Rajnikanth and Tamannah Bhatia in lead roles and Tamannah’s song Kaavaalaa was already in trend! It is the story of Muthuvel Pandian, a jailer who comes to know about a group of people trying to rescue their corrupt gang leader from the prison- he then sets out to stop this from happening. ‘Jailer’ was undoubtedly one of the most successful movies of August. It is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, and along with the lead couple, also features an ensemble star cast including Jacki Shroff, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Ramya Krishnan among others.
5. JGM |3 August
It is an action drama movie that has also created a lot of speculation since it has a great star cast, however, the story is kept under wraps- all about creating curiosity. It is directed by Puri Jagannadh and features superstars like Vijay Deverakonda, Pooja Hegde, Janhvi Kapoor, and Nayan Rosh TM among others. The movie was supposed to be released in August 2023- but its release is delayed so don’t worry, you did not miss out on this one!
6. Peda Kapu-1 |18 August
Peda Kapy-1 is a coming-of-age movie and marks the debut of the talented actor Vikram Karrna in the lead role. The movie looks intense so is the story! This movie is written and directed by Srikanth Addala who gave superhits like ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’, and features Tanikella Bharani, Easwari Rao, and Rao Ramesh in prominent roles.
7. Gandeevadhari Arjuna |25 August
Directed by Praveen Sattaru- it is a spy action thriller movie about a spy and all things grand about his missions! Well, not much has been revealed about the movie. However, it stars an ensemble star cast including Varun Tej, Sakshi Vaidya, Nassar, and Vimala Raman in the main roles. The movie’s music is composed by Mickey J. Meyer. The movie is about a spy and has got a good response as well as an 8.1 IMDb rating- seems like a must-watch, isn’t it?
