India Might Be Renamed Bharat And Twitter Has Gone Bonkers!

Yes, you heard that right, India might be officially renamed Bharat! This whole speculation arose when the G20 Summit invites for this year used ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the traditional norm of writing ‘President of India’. Later BJP spokesperson also addressed this when he shared a document on the PM’s visit to Indonesia where he was referred to as ‘Prime Minister of Bharat’. Also this year, the attendees of the G20 Summit from India/Bharat would have ‘Bharat’ written on their identity cards. All this official work made sense that something big was coming. We might or might not drop the name India but an official name shift as India might be renamed Bharat is inevitable.

The best part of this controversy? Pakistan might change its name to India!! Now that is extremely funny and so ridiculous but this is a topic for later. Today we have compiled the best and funniest tweets as Twitter is going ballistic over this piece of news.

This was our take on the hilarious ‘India might be renamed Bharat’ memes. Obviously, we are not dropping the name India otherwise we are looking at lakhs of crores of government inventory for changing all official documents which means taxpayers’ money going down for this. Also, Bharat is actually the official name as well as said in Article 1 of the Constitution, “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States.” So we are not technically changing anything, just using another name for the country which dates back way before it was named India, Remember our National Anthem? ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’
